Our new partnership with Emergence Ecotech

We’re excited to officially announce that our Biologic Seed business has invested in a new start-up, Emergence Ecotech, as part of a partnership with the company’s founders and the UWA Centre of Engineering Innovation (CEI).

Emergence Ecotech is a WA-based company specialising in seeding and seed enhancement equipment for large-scale ecosystem restoration projects.

The founders, Dr Todd Erickson, Associate Professor Andrew Guzzomi and Dr Monte Masarei, have decades of experience and extensive knowledge of native seeds, seed science and engineering design.

To date, the team have co-invented two patented seeding devices: The Flash Flamer and the Mega Sweeper, with patent pending on a third, the Mechanical Cow. These devices have been designed to improve seeding success, built to work in the toughest WA conditions and tailored for specific native seed profiles for the best possible biodiversity outcomes.

From a Biologic perspective, we’re really excited to have joined forces as partners in this company. The Emergence Ecotech team will be able to work with our Biologic Seed clients to provide these devices for hire.

“This is an exciting partnership,” said our Biologic founder, Morgan O’Connell. “The work that the Emergence Ecotech team is doing is really changing the way large-scale seeding can be rolled out for ecosystem restoration. It’s a win for our clients to have access to this kind of tech – and also a win for improved biodiversity outcomes.”

Emergence Ecotech was officially launched at the conclusion of the International Society for Seed Science (ISSS) Conference on 19 September.
